Hogg PISSED As Boycott Backfires, Companies Leaving Laura Get Nasty Wakeup Call

Parkland survivor David Hogg is pissed today after receiving news that his boycott of Fox News host Laura Ingraham has backfired majorly. Indeed, the companies that chose to pull their ads from Ingraham’s program just got a nasty wakeup call, and now, they’re regretting the move to align themselves with Hogg and his agenda.

As the mainstream media’s misguided infatuation with David Hogg continues into its second month, some of the largest advertisers in the country are finding out that their appeasement of teenage tyrants can have a real price. Ironically, Hogg explained the reason himself, even if he didn’t realize it at the time.

In the aftermath of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, several student survivors of the shooting have become public advocates for stricter gun laws. But undoubtedly the most notorious of these underage activists is David Hogg, who hid with his peers as 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz roamed the high school and fatally shot 17 people.

With such notoriety, though, comes the possibility that you will encounter criticism from those on the opposite side of the aisle. Ever since Hogg became an outspoken advocate for gun control, he has been the subject of criticism from those who support the Second Amendment and gun rights, including Fox News host Laura Ingraham. Of course, Hogg invited this sort of scrutiny when he positioned himself as the nation’s leading teen activist in the push for gun control. He should have seen it coming and took it in stride.

Hogg’s reaction, though, was to encourage a boycott of Ingraham’s advertisers after she claimed in a tweet that the Florida teen, who is currently applying to colleges, was “whining” about several rejection letters that he has received. Although Hogg has said much nastier things than this during the short time he has been in the spotlight, Ingraham’s comment was enough to move Hogg to call for sponsors of Ingraham’s show to boycott the Fox News program.

Laura Ingraham eventually apologized, saying that it wasn’t her intention to “hurt” the “brave victims of Parkland,” including David Hogg. Despite her apology, however, several sponsors did end up dropping Ingraham’s show. “I think it’s great that corporate America is standing with me and the rest of my friends,” Hogg told CNN regarding the advertiser boycott of Ingraham’s show. “When you come against any one of us — whether it be me or anybody else — you’re coming against all of us.”

Then, in another sneering interview with CNN over the weekend, Hogg explained how he rejected Ingraham’s apology, saying, “No matter who somebody is, no matter how big or powerful they may seem, a bully is a bully, and it’s important that you stand up to them.”

For once, he was absolutely right, but he didn’t realize at the time that his statement was an accurate assessment of his own bullying and the conservative right’s move to stand up to him.

In Facebook videos and Twitter posts, conservatives are rallying for a counter-boycott of companies that pulled their advertising from Ingraham’s show, and so far, they have caused a mass exodus of business from companies like Wayfair, Expedia, and Jenny Craig, the likes of which we have never seen.

In a statement Monday to the Los Angeles Times, Fox News reiterated its support for Ingraham when company co-president Jack Abernethy declared, “We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts.” Statements from consumers on social media echo the same message, but even stronger, calling the companies out by name, according to IJR.

“Make sure you boycott EVERYTHING Nestle since they decided to capitulate to teen tyrants. Adults with real jobs and money, tell Nestle to pound sand. BYE!” tweeted Christina Laila.

“Ok. Cancelled @hulu. won’t be buying more from Wayfair, Nutrish, or J&J Won’t be using Expedia or TripAdvisor for travel plans, & am looking to see if it’s possible to remove my reviews on TripAdvisor. Who tries to financially ruin those who disagree with him? #IStandWithLaura,” wrote another Twitter user.

A Twitter user named Mike also chimed in, saying, “Make sure your voice is heard. David Hogg will not win this war and destroy Laura Ingraham. She doesn’t deserve this. Call the companies dropping her show and tell them they lost a customer. The time for letting things go, is over. We can NOT give in to the left.”

The boycott of Laura Ingraham inspired by David Hogg has backfired in a major way. Consumers are pulling their business faster than Hogg can deliver a rehearsed talking point. Meanwhile, companies which chose to continue their support of the Fox News host have been rewarded. This surely is not what Hogg intended to happen when he called for Ingraham’s advertisers to jump ship, and the fact that the whole thing has blown up in his face just makes it even sweeter for Ingraham and her supporters.
